走到中山北路,只要一看見高聳的建築上三個大大的「海霸王」,很多人都會油然生出許多回憶。海霸王見證了臺北的繁華與許多人的生命故事,而它自己本身也是一段精采的故事!

海霸王的第一家餐廳是在1975年,由莊榮德先生先創立於高雄,再從海產料理興盛的高雄來到臺北,當時很迅速便擄獲臺北人的心,全盛時期在臺灣有高達十四家分店。臺灣餐飲業這幾十年來歷經極大變化,許多老店紛紛歇業,屹立不搖的老店如海霸王,近幾年來有了令人懷念又驚訝的改變,它依然保有臺式桌菜的傳統風格—寬敞的場地、劃一的制服、親切的招呼與笑容、大圓桌與紅桌布,而同時又貼合這幾年的懷舊風,以經濟實惠的價格,讓客人重新回味經典臺式桌菜。

海霸王能求新求變不是沒有來由。創辦人莊榮德先生始終在第一線體會顧客感受是主因。有件軼事相當能說明莊榮德先生的個性:幾年前他率領同業,繞了全臺灣一圈,祕密試吃了多家飯店專門給觀光客的旅遊餐,回到臺北後馬上召集主廚們著手調整旅遊餐,親自口說菜色如何調整,讓料理更體貼客人、更環保也更新鮮。他很自豪的是,海霸王能以2000元做出比別人2500元一桌更好吃的菜色。

“HaiBaiWang” located on Zhongshan North Road arouses many people’s memories. HaiBaWang witnesses Taipei’s prosperity and many people’s life stories. The restaurant itself is a fantastic story, too.  

The first HaiBaWang is established by Zhuang De-Rong at Kaohsiung in 1975 and then expanded its territory to Taipei. There were 14 branches in Taiwan in its prime time. The catering industry in Taiwan went through a great change in decades. Many old restaurant were closed. Although HaiBaWang still preserves its traditional style, it has a surprising change—a spacious place, unified uniform, cordial greeting and smile, large round tables and red tablecloths. Besides, echoing the nostalgic style these years, its economic and cheap price make people recollect the classic Taiwanese table meal.

HaiBaWang is always innovative. Zhuang De-Rong, the founder, always experienced customers’ feeling in the forefront. A few years ago, he led competitors in business to travel Taiwan around and secretly tasted many hotels’ meals prepared for tourists. After returning to Taipei, he gathered the chefs to adjust the tourist meals and instructed them how to make the meals better and more considerate to customers and more environmentally-friendly. What made him proud was that HaiBaWang could make a more delicious meal with NT$2000 than NT$ 2500.

掀起揪團吃臺式桌菜風潮

一走進海霸王,人聲鼎沸的餐廳加倍刺激著食慾,放眼望去幾乎每一桌都在吃熱賣超過百萬桌的「懷念料理」。名為懷念,自然都是記憶中的經典菜色:圓籠蒸鮮蝦、紅燒圓蹄、櫻花蝦米糕、砂鍋燉雞、鮮魚芋香鍋……菜色豐富分量足、擺盤洋溢濃濃古早味。10人份2500元,平均一人250元便能享用,懷念料理曾掀起一陣揪團吃臺菜的風潮。

多年來,海霸王始終堅持「五好一公道」的理念,五好意謂海鮮魚貨好、裝潢氣氛好、服務親切好、料理口味好、環境衛生好,一公道則是價錢公道。正因為客人川流不息,餐廳高朋滿座,才能讓高品質的料理,卻以物超所值的價錢供應。若是家族聚餐,老中青各代的人都能在此體會到不同的時代氣氛,而若招待外國客人,海霸王絕對能讓賓主盡歡,因為這裡有的不只是好吃料理,更是歲月沉澱出的醍醐味。

Leading having Taiwanese table meals in group

When entering HaiBaWang, people’s appetite will be provoked by the crowded and noisy restaurant. People there are having “Nostalgia cuisine.” The meals are classic in our memory: steamed fresh shrimp in a large carry food-basket, braised pork knuckle with brown sauce, Sakura shrimp with rice cake, Chicken soup in casserole, and fresh fish and taro hotpot… the ingredients are rich and the portion is large. NT$ 2500 for 10 people’s meals, everyone spends NT$250 can enjoy the delicious meal.

For these years, HaiBaWang has insisted on “five good one reasonable.” The five good refers to fresh seafood, amiable ambience, kind service, tasty meal, and sanitary environment; one reasonable refers to reasonable price. This principle attracts people to dine here. If greeting foreign customers, HaibaWang can make both gusts and hosts happy and satisfied.

鳳貝砂鍋雞,海霸王明星料理,以百隻雞一起熬煮,湯頭特別濃郁,雞高湯上桌前特別放入豬腳熬煮,再加入干貝,湯頭濃郁鮮甜。

Braised scallops and chicken in casserole: The signature dish of HaiBaWang; a hundred of chicken are stewed together; a rich soup foundation; pork knuckles and scallops are put into the chicken broth and stewed together before the soup is served.

鮮魚芋香鍋,以新鮮魚骨熬煮湯底,加入稍油炸過的新鮮魚肉、大甲芋頭、Q彈魚丸、米粉,最後灑上蔥花、油蔥酥、芹菜提味。

Fresh fish and taro hotpot: the soup foundation is made by stewing fish bones; fried fresh fish, Dajia taros, springy fish balls, rice noodles are stewed together, and finally topping it with scallion, fried scallion, and celery.

櫻花蝦米糕,嚴選東港櫻花蝦,搭配大甲芋頭、火腿、新鮮蛋酥等佐料,放入蒸熟的長糯米熱油拌炒,櫻花蝦鮮美融於米糕裡。

Sakura Shrimp Rice Cake: selected sakura shrimp from Tungkang, with the ingredients of Dajia’s taro, ham, fresh fried eggs; all the ingredients are fried with long sticky rice. The taste of Sakura shrimp is melted into the rice cake.
